It is our great pleasure to invite you to take part in the International Workshop on Flexibility and Resilience Problems of Electric Power Systems to be held on August 26 – 31 in Irkutsk, Lake Baikal, by Melentiev Energy Systems Institute (MESI), Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics, Dortmund University of Technology.

We believe that your valuable contribution to a better understanding of flexibility and resilience problems in electric power systems will improve the efficiency and reliability of these infrastructural systems in a changing environment and under ever-increasing requirements of the consumer.

Electric power systems (EPS) are constantly under development, which involves the use of innovative smart electricity production, transfer, distribution, and storage technologies that meet the high reliability and power quality requirements of the consumer. This process alters the structure and properties of the transformed power systems and causes the need to consider these new factors in the EPS expansion and operation in a changing environment. It is also necessary to address related new problems to provide more flexible and resilient transformed systems.

The Workshop will be held in a picturesque bay on the shore of Lake Baikal. This bay is located about 100 km from Irkutsk city and the international airport. Lake Baikal is a unique place on the Earth. It is the deepest, oldest and largest lake on the planet. Its fresh almost distilled water is saturated with oxygen. The lake is full of life from the surface to bottom. Baikal is called the "well" of the planet because about 20 % of the world's freshwater is concentrated here.

Tourist camp `Baikal Dunes` was opened in 1998. It is located at the Akademicheskaya bay, near Peschanya bay at the territory of National Park `Pribaikalsky`.
A Paradise place of Baikal
It is one of the most beautiful places of the lake, which is surrounded with cliffs and beautiful Siberian taiga by one side, and with lake Baikal by the other side. There are no automobile roads; this place is separated out of civilization for tens of kilometers. You can meet wild animals or dip into water of the most ancient lake on the planet. Here you can really touch original nature and your rest remains in your memory as an afterglow.
